I was born in Pennsylvania, Eiko is from Okinawa, Japan and our son Jonathan was born and raised in Alamogordo, NM.
We've lived in Alamogordo since 1973 and love it here. My first 5 1/2 years were spent at Dover AFB, Phan Rang AB, Vietnam, Misawa AB, Japan and Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan prior to coming to Holloman. I'm a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant with 26 years of service. I spent most of my career at Holloman AFB in what used to be the 4449th MOBSS and is now the 49th Materiel Maintenance Group. Even though I spent that long at Holloman, I had a lot of TDY (temporary duty assignment) time at some great places from Moscow, Russia, Egypt, Ascension Island, Panama, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. I also spent a short tour in Oman. Desert Shield/Desert Storm was a six month TDY and what a great team we had there. I retired in '94.
I have 10 years with, Brown & Root and KBR. and spent 4 1/2 years in Bosnia. I had a two year break and went back to work in 2002 going to Djibouti, Africa. After a little over three years and some great scuba diving there, I went to Baghdad, Iraq for a just over two years. I've been home since December 2007 trying to figure out what to do when I grow up.
During my time overseas with KBR, we traveled extensively throughout Europe and back to Japan visiting my wife's side of the family. We also traveled to Thailand and the second trip was so for scuba diving at Koh Samui. My son became my diving partner when we made a couple trips to my wife's home on Okinawa. We got in a lot of shore dives as well as going to the Kerema Islands both years.
My wife Eiko owned Styles Unlimited Beauty Shop and had owned the shop from 1985 till 2008 but just recently sold it. She is now renting a booth at Daisy's Beauty Shop. She is very dedicated to her customers.
Our son Jon is a native New Mexican. He graduated from Alamogordo High School and New Mexico State University and a member of AGR fraternity. He recently moved from Rio Ranch to Las Cruces, NM and is working at NMSU as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. He's in the process of buying a new home since selling his home in Rio Rancho and relocating to Las Cruces.
